I've been doing a long-term writing project (a novel, no less) on my laptop -- in our living room, a much more conducive workplace than my dungeon-like downstairs office. I bought this laptop desk to replace the TV table I'd been using. I use a lot of resource materials for my project -- books and maps and so forth, and the only places I had to store/pile them were a bookcase and a small, round rattan table. I ended up with a lot of stuff in a pile on the table; not the best way to keep things organized -- plus it was always in danger of being knocked to the floor by the cat.

This little laptop stand looked like it might be the answer to my problem and it was/is. The "desk" has sufficient room for my laptop and wireless mouse. I can keep most of my books on the lower shelf, plus there are a couple more small shelves for odds and ends like pens, memory sticks, calculator and notes you can't bear to throw away.

It's not hard to assemble and it's very sturdy. Assembly does require some sitting/crawling on the floor, which wasn't the greatest thing for my bum back and bum hip -- but I survived. If you can find this in a Staples store, it might be worth your while to have them put it together for you, provided you have room for it in your car.

Mine has the "wood grain finish", which is attractive and blends in pretty well with our living room furniture.

This is the only design I found that did not have the "hospital style" rolling table look. Because of the totally vertical construction, it is extremely sturdy, rolls well and DOES NOT have the awkward bottom leg sticking out (which is easy to trip over). It even has a small storage space which is a nice added feature that none of the other laptop tables had. I am beyond pleased with this purchase.

  This laptop desk cart can be raised up to 43-1/2", so it should be high enough for you to stand at while working. The table top can be raised and lowered by loosening the knobs that are located in the back. You would then set the table top at the desired height and tighten the knobs again.
