I purchased this desk in 2008 b/c I was moving and needed something smaller to fit into my living room. I love the color...It is a black color with a wood texture. I did not put this together, my husband and his friend did, it did take a while but they did not complain too much so I don' think it was that bad to assemble. The desk functions very well by holding my printer on the top of the desk to the side on the shelf, my tower goes underneath on the right, it does stick out but not a big deal. The 2 lower left sided drawers hold plenty of my things and they glide out without much effort at all. There is a pull out shelf to hold your scanner but since I don 't have one I use to to store some other things. The desk space is pretty large with plenty of space for writing if you need to. The desk is larger in person than the picture but it is small enough to fit in a small area. One problem I had with another desk I had for years was that the top was peeling..it wasn't real wood and it was falling apart. I have not had one issue with the outer paint of the desk peeling, chipping or cracking. I use pledge to dust it and it looks awesome after, nice and shiney.FYI...get this on sale...I got this for MUCH less. I am very pleased with this desk, it is VERY solid, sturdy and holds many things like an expensive desk would. If you want to put this in your living room, [...] sells furniture (tv stand, etc) in the same color/texture. That's what I did and everything matches very well.

Horrible to put together, and I even broke off a back piece when I was finally loading on the desk top so it's now very chipped in the back. Even with the break, it's still solid enough much to my surprise. Great price and looks very high class so long as you're looking at it from the front side. Now I have to hope it really holds together and figure out a way to hide the damage.

It looks very nice however the assembly is a nightmare. I'm quite handy however the instructions aren't that great and even though it's not a big desk there are alot of pieces to assemble.
I am satisfied with the finished product, the only flaw is the chair space, not that wide to push a chair under.

[...] It is indeed a pain to put together - took the wife & I about 3 hours. Having said that, it looks great and is very functional. Regarding those who have problems with the pre-drilled screw holes for the drawers and the scanner slider (or lack thereof): the two holes are not visible at the same time - you have to slide the cams back and forth in order for the holes to align properly with those pre-drilled into the wood. Also, sometimes the veneer covers over the holes and you just have to poke it with the tip of a screwdriver in order to make them more apparent. I actually had to call customer service and, to their credit, an actual human answered on the first ring (no phone tree) and helped walk me through it. Over all very pleased.

Looks great on the screen or catalog. Very heavy box. Opened and prepared to put together but could not because the holes were not drilled big enough. I would rather send it back than do all that drilling. There are holes, but not near big enough for the cam lock system.

Difficult to assemble, took me about 5 hours. Maybe I am a little slow, but you have to put everything together (I think there was about 30 pieces plus screws and such). But its a good desk and looks great, also sturdy.
