The Tensor lamp is my first after a long hiatus. I'm still happy with their offerings however, I do notice a "cheapening" of the product line.

This lamp was functional. As an articulated arm construction, it performs well when the lamp arm is primarily centered above the base. The lamp tended to fall over when the arm was swung past about 60 degrees from center. The primary cause is not enough weight in the base.

The light produced is great for task lighting offering a sun like spectrum. I was a bit disappointed in the lamp head articulation. It would not hold its position and I could find no adjustments to stiffen it.

The back of the base has an odd screw adjustment apparently for ensuring that the armature does not rotate. From a mechanical perspective, it's a bad design but I'm hard pressed to come up with an alternate solution. Oddly I can't imagine why I would need such an adjustment ability given that other parts of the lamp lack appropriate adjustment ability.

I rate this a good by for the price. There are other better products out there but their price may be higher.

First. The lamp doesn't stay up by itself. It's a great light if you rest part of it on something that can hold it up, but if you want a task lamp, spend the extra money to get one that will stand up by itself. Also, the bulb it comes with is a full spectrum light and it is too white. You can easily replace this with a warm light 13 Watt bulb. My issue, is I called about this to ask and was told it did not have a full spectrum bulb -- it does!

Very poorly built. The bottom of the lamp (male end) that attaches to the base, continued to bend until it finally broke. Only had lamp for less than one year. Tried to glue it to no avail.
Do not waste your money on this product!

This lamp looks very nice and the illumination area is great. The only drawback is the quality of the design. The lamp head falls down and does not stay where you position it.

We purchased two lamps, one for each of us at our desks. One bulb (or lamp?) was defective from the start and will be exchanged today when I return it to the store. The bulb is very difficult to change to point that you feel it might break when trying to install or remove it. The full-spectrum light from the bulb is too white. We would prefer a warm-white wavelength. We purchased these to hopefully eliminate the need to turn on overhead lamps in the den and because, like all of the other lamps in our solar powered home, it has a fluorescent bulb. That's it's only pro. In addition to the con of a full-spectrum lamp, you need to tighten the single adjustment knob to point of nearly breaking it to keep the lamp positioned (others have mentioned this con as well). Perhaps, one other pro would be it can be positioned away from the area it illuminates.
