My TI-83 Plus is now ten years old...bought at a Staples in Northern Virginia. It's been with me through high school and college math and science classes and probably will still be with me ten years from now. I wouldn't trade this graphing calculator for any other!

Over the years I have purchased the TI83 calculator for all three of my children for their h.s. & college math classes. They all took good care of the calculars. [...] The last one I bought for my youngest just died one day. It lasted only 14 months. TI's warranty had expired after a year. I had to buy a new one because my son had several more years of math ahead that required it. I[...]. All the troubleshooting at the back of the manual could not fix it. It killed me to buy a 4th calculator!

It works well with impressive functions. HOWEVER, if you want to connect to computer, the usb cable is not included. (costs extra [$]) Instead, spend the extra [$]for the TI-84, which includes the usb cable. This saves [$]in the long run.

TI-84 has brighter display.....My math teacher insisted I buy the TI-83+..so I did...then everyone else in class shows up with the TI-84+. What's a girl going to do? (If the 84 is a newer and better version....the price difference is minimal. Dump the 83.)
