I use this calculator for schoolwork that deals with electronics and computer engineering, calculus, physics, and chemistry classes. It does exactly what it is suppose to do when you tell it to do it...why wouldn't it, right? The biggest complaint from myself, and others, is that the "EE" (engineering function) is a 2nd function. I guess I am lazy and think that this should not be a secondary function since this is a scientific calculator, eh? I still rock an older TI-89 and love it. As long as you can get use to how the 89 works and as long as you are authorized to use it for your applications, think about getting a TI-89. I'm sure there is some older individuals out there that would recommend a TI-85 or 86 instead of the 89, but like everything else in this world, everyone has their own opinions/likes/dislikes. Since my school, for the most part, does not allow students to have TI-89's, because it does too many functions that they do not want you to know about, I had to purchase this TI-84 plus silver edition. Just plug and chug.

I purchased this product (pink version) for my high school junior. After two months of use the keyboard stopped responding. Apparently this is a common problem. Yes its under warranty, they will send me a reconditioned one (3 weeks lead time) AFTER I send the broken one back. That means I have to buy another calculator if I want her to have one to use at school.
Comments about Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Graphing Calculator (Black):
A good calculater for someone who is going into college pre-calculus or calculus. A student who is taking a math major, specificly engineering, would find it helpful. A little hard finding buttons and functions but nothing that isn't in the operators manuel.
