Not a serious gamer or media hound so this fits just right. Middle of the road for everyday use.
Processor seems fast. Speakers don't have much to brag about. Touch Pad just doesn't seem to fit the new OS - Win 8. Not to responsive to the finger gestures needed to navigate thru Win 8. Nice size screen for a laptop. HD graphics are good. Overall satisfied for the price paid.

I purchased this computer and the extended warranty. Before I received the $50 mail-in rebate (about 4 weeks), the computer died. It just stopped as I was listening to iHeart radio. After calls to the store, I was told I was on my own with toshiba. Ultimate decision was it was a bad motherboard and I have to return it to toshiba for repair. It's NY weekend and I'm waiting for a box to return it and I won;t be home for 6 weeks after January 10. I've owned 6 or more Toshiba's over the last 15+ years. When it was working the screen was great, it seemed to operate well, I was getting used to Win 8. I will still go with toshiba, but this one was bad.

I have a 3 year old Satellite computer and saw a good price on this one. I was only leery of going to Windows 8 and justifiably so. It seems more suitable for a tablet, or a touch screen laptop. After 3 or 4 days of aggravation, I can now use the computer pretty much as I did with my older one. The new processor really speeds up streaming and the screen seems brighter and more crisp. The keyboard has a nice feel although I usually use a wireless keyboard and mouse. Compared to my wife's HP, I like this machine better.

I've had this laptop for over two months now and am very satisfied with it. As a midrange laptop, it is a very solid machine. The integrated processor/graphics are well designed for most streaming media applications and it does well with office applications (wordprocessing, spreadsheets, etc). I have had a number of apps open at the same tinme and it does not bog down. Also use it with GIS (think CADD for mapping), which is graphics intensive for rendering maps, etc. No complaints there either.

Unlike past laptops with AMD processors, this one runs cool and the fan is very quiet; even when I am hitting it hard with streaming video. This laptop seems to be well optimized for modern media applications.

The build quality is very good. Really like the keyboard and the laptop shows no more sign of wear over these past two months of heavy use than it had coming out of the box.

My only con (prevented a 5 star for this class of laptop) is A) Windows 8 and B) the 'bloatware' that came pre-installed. Almost returned it because of all of the excess 3rd party software that came preinstalled and was running upon startup. So much stuff that it made the laptop crawl in speed and responsiveness at times.

Once I figured out what was going on, these bloatware apps (most trying to extract $ from your wallet) were uninstalled via Windows. Moreover, you have to go into the startup programs to get rid of several, as they do not all fully uninstall in Windows install/uninstall program utilities. With them removed from start up programs too, along with the stuff I really wanted to have running installed, this laptop became a snappy little performer.

Word of warning about Windows 8 if you are replacing a previous laptop and have already bought apps for something pre-Windows 8. CHECK FOR COMPATIBLITY before merely installing. Some previous appliations are not compatible at all (will not work in Windows compatibility mode either) and you can create grief for yourself if said install places part of the incompatible application as a Windows Startup program.

On the whole though, very satisfied with is laptop with experiences noted.

17" screen is awesome, but the entire hinge seems flimsy. I don't think it's going to hold up to movement over time. The touchpad is offset due to full numpad... The effect is to put it 1" out of position and therefore better suited to left handed users. The system performs well for general use, but file transfers and multiple processes bog the processor down. The HDMI output is a nice add ... Again geared toward a stationary laptop. The system is awkward to use in your lap but effective on a desk or counter. Overall a solid general purpose laptop not geared toward business or power users.
