This is a great laptop. Its got the AMD. what more can I say. For a box type laptop,what more can you ask for. Yes I have read other reviews, I think they are, well let's just say uneducated tech savy. 1st of All the only complaint I agree with is the keyboard that dont light up. But then again, it just takes away from battery life. I guess I wont do my thing in the dark. Or learn how to navigate my keyboard blindfolded. Back to the Box Laptop. All other complaints I have read can be cured by ordering the made to order laptop, I wont mention brands/manufacturers, but if your a real PC geek, you know who they are. I did read 1 person whoes Toshiba crashed 2 weeks after they purchased it, well bad luck, or who knows where they surfed and what viruses they obtained. Me I like this machine. use it for med school, and the graphics are great, speed excellent, RAM, 6 gigs out of the box cmon, need I say more. 640 gig hard drive, not 500 as the norm today. HD, blueray drive. For an average retail of 500-550, best value. Oh yea I did see a complaint about the viewing angle, Its a laptop-pc. I dont usually invite a gang of friends over to watch a movie on my laptop. Also I seen a complaint about the built in speakers, well same deal, Headphones sound good. My Bose sound system sounded awesome plougged in to the easy access speaker jack. OH YEA I did plug in the HDMI jack to my HI-DEF tv. with the bose speakers YOUTUBE looked like a home theater. By the way, I built my first PC before Windows existed. We had DOS shell, and that was brand new. My current desktop is 3 years old. AMD Athilon processor, Nvidia graphics, Gforce 200. I have only 2 gigs of RAM 1.8 gigs on the processor, bumped up to 2.1. It runs faster than most of you out of the box desktops today. I know a bit about PCs. This Toshiba is the ONLY out of the box laptop I would spend money on. EXCELLENT VALUE!!

I bought the same laptop from Staples 3 months back. Within 3 weeks laptop started acting weird.

#1 - Suddenly in the middle of the work, the system is freezing and within few seconds the system will crash and auto restart (you lost all your work if you did not saved it!). On restart it will show an error PIXIE-ROM and system won't start. You have to have a cold boot.

#2 - System clock runs faster. Tried several setting and configured internet time. Still the clock keeps running faster. Issue reported to Toshiba and they confirmed as a known issue with this model.

I am more concerned on issues #1. I have been working with Toshiba to get my laptop shipped for last 6 weeks. Customer support is horrible at Toshiba. Finally I had to file a complaint through BBB and got my laptop shipment initiated.

I would say beware of TOSHIBA product / support more than latop. I can understand once in a while a laptop might end up with such issue and it is my bad luck. But after experiencing TOSHIBA support,decided never to go for TOSHIBA product.

Received as a birthday present. It's very fast, easy to use and great replacement for my old Dell. Just wish the battery lasted as long as they said it would, and that it would be a little lighter. Great wide screen and graphics, sound is awesome!

  Unfortunately this laptop does not have the capabilities for the USB 3.0 Interface; however two of the USB ports utilize the USB 2.0 Interface, while the other utilizes USB 1.0 Interface with the ability of Sleep and Charge hardware. Sleep and Charge is useful for charging hardware like a cell phone via USB while the computer is in Sleep Mode.
