I was researching prices for new laptops and the *entry* point for a Core i7-2630 on sale seemed to be around what this machine goes for when it's not on sale. But this has a 2670, and then Staples knocked off 15% with a discount and instant coupon... No brainer. One of the first things I did on this machine (after de[*]ifying it) was run the Passmark suite of benchmark tests. It blew my older Core i5 (460M) machine out of the water on processor, memory, etc. but was actually slower on 3D graphics, despite being able to handle more complex tests. I'll have to test it when it's hooked up to a monitor (like the 460M was) and see if it makes a difference. In general, it's a solid system. I like Toshiba Satellite machines and I know a number of IT guys who like them as being relatively solid and reliable. One of my favorite features of my older Satellite is that huge 12-cell battery Toshiba sells as an add-on. It is a bit of an eyesore, but it can give you some SERIOUS battery life. And I checked the Toshiba site to make sure the same part number is compatible with this machine. The construction isn't flimsy, the keyboard is comfortable, and the textured cover is fingerprint resistant, though the smooth parts and the keys are quickly showing signs of being touched.Ran the speakers blasting a couple of songs at full volume. The bass is not impressive, but the volume and clarity were. You'll be able to watch videos, movies, even with a little background noise, without a problem.Overall, it's an easy laptop to like. On sale, it becomes more loveable.

I purchased this Toshiba laptop brand new to handle multi tasks for photography & graphics. The inital set up gave me trouble & THAT should have been a red flag to me not to continue on with it but, to take it back to the store immediately. But, I persisted on with it for a few more days. It would freeze up & this message appreared regularly: "Windows has stopped working". I took it back to the store where they tested it & they found that the motherboard, controller, & optical drive were defective. I called Toshiba after that & explained the situation & that the store did not have any more of these (special buy with Toshiba). They would not replace it & wanted to send me a box to send it back to their repair depot in CA. They could not promise me a short turnaround time on repairing it. I read another person's comments about it taking Toshiba 2 months to replace a part on their laptop & they were totally frustrated with them because of the lack of communication while this was happening. So that was it for me. I didn't need any more frustration over a new laptop. I returned it to the store & exchanged it for a different mfg. that "takes care of their customers when service is needed". In the end, it's not all about price, product, model number, mfg. or how fast it runs, it's all about service.

This laptop is a much than I originally thought it would be. In the store and online it appeared flimsy looking. When it arrived it looked much nicer than i thought it would be. The laptop is very good and I''m very happy with my purchase.
I apologize for the confusion; it appears the Toshiba Satellite P755-S5390 laptop does have an HDMI port. I have forwarded your inquiry to our merchandising specialists, it may be a typographical error. When I receive an answer, I will let you know of the result.

Q:
The Product Details indicates •DVD SuperMulti drive with Labelflash® supporting 11 formats. Is Lableflash the laser lableing on the reverse side of the CD? At any rate, where is there any directions or tutorials on using the CD/DVD copier?
Labelflash™ uses an optical drive's laser beam to burn images onto the label side of a disc. For tutorials and directions you will need to go to http://www.toshiba.com and search using the model number.

Q:
Can a back-lite keyboard be installed on this model? What is the model number for the upgrade keyboard, is it an easy install?
The keyboard is replaceable with a backlit model, one type that may work is the Twister U500, it is not an easy install, but with proper tools and focus the job is done. The Toshiba Help forums are a good place to get information on the correct backlit keyboard and how to install it.

Q:
Went to a Staples to purchase this yesterday. The proc was 2.2ghz, not 2.4. Big difference to some of us. 2.2 does not have the virtual technologies that the 2.4 does. When are you going to stop falsely advertising it as 2.4ghz?
Because Staples does advertise the processor correctly, the Core i7-2670QM, it would be a stretch to call it false advertising. There are at the very least dozens of different computers which Staples.com carries and each one has a different configuration. Unfortunately, mistakes in listings can occur.
