Part of it's Win8, which is a horrible OS. If Toshiba offered this laptop with Win7, I would have opted for it. But the Toshiba hard drive is a little sluggish; the laptop is frequently i/o bound, while the CPU loafs along with little to do. Maybe an SSD would help. The BIOS (actually a UEFI) is only minimally adjustable, and is hard to access and alter. The screen isn't a vibrant as some other notebooks I've had. It's an OK system, but not one I'd recommend or buy again.

I had concerns about the laptop from other reviews before buying it, but was very satisfied with the purchase. It has a feel of quality beyond the average, with great performance. The screen and graphics are very good, even with Intel graphics, without the internal graphics card I had hoped to find. The only criticism is related to how thin it is. I like the lightness and how thin it is, but worry about its ruggedness. The screen seems to flex a minor bit which worries me that it may eventually break a connection. Also, I would have preferred a keyboard with indented keys instead of having them absolutely flat on top. Overall, I'm satisfied and happy with it.

The laptop is an excellent product. The I7 processor coupled with the cache provides great speed. After getting through the Windows 8 issues, I found that it serves all of my needs.
