I would give it a 4.5 star, but they won't let me do that.

The main reason I purchased this tablet is all the ports. The reason I love Android is that it frees hardware manufacturers to give you options. I don't believe this tablet is for everyone, but it definitely is for me.

Replaceable battery - When I purchase electronics I like them to last. I'm not the type of person that upgrades with every new version. Using electronics, the first thing that degrades is the battery. I like having the option of swapping out my battery without having to take it to a repair store or voiding a warranty.

Full SDCard - Other tablets add this in the way of a microSD slot. I don't have any microSD cards, but I have quite a few SDCards. I like that I can use my existing cards on this device. And if I want to bring extra videos on a trip I can just bring more SDCards. Also when I'm taking photos on my digital camera, I can just put the SDCard into my tablet to view or share my photos.

Full USB slot - At the time of this review only the Acer Iconia offers this without the use of a dock (Asus Eee Pad Transformer). You can use your external HDD on this. You will need to format it to exFat or FAT32 if it already isn't. There's supposed to be a patch in the works to support NTFS. When I'm on vacation I used to bring a laptop so I can move files from my SDCard to an external drive and now I can do that with this tablet. Also the USB port supports mice and keyboards.

Full hdmi - I like that I don't need to bring along a separate cable or adapter to share photos or videos with a friend.

The battery life is not as long as their competitors, but charging is very fast. The camera lacks a flash, but I didn't intend to use this device as a camera. The screen is plastic instead of glass, but it is a very tough screen.

Overall this tablet fit my needs the best. I've replaced my aging laptop with this device and I don't miss it at all.

Poor Customer Service

I have really enjoyed my Thrive since I purchased it in December 2011. I take it with me every where I go. Last night I powered down the device and plugged it in for the night so I could have a full charge in the morning. When I tried to turn it on this morning, I couldn't get it to turn on. I called their "tech support". The guy walked me though taking out the battery and whatnot...and when it still did not work he told me that I corrupted the battery by leaving it plugged in overnight????? He walked me through the process of returning the tablet to their repair depot. He told me to make sure I back up my data before sending it in....HELLO...I can't get the thing turned on! He said they would send me info on getting the tablet returned COD. I even repeated to him..,"You said I could return it COD, right?" and he assured me that I heard him correctly.

Well, I got the info in my email, and COD was NOT one of the options. I tried for the next 45 minutes trying to get a hold of a human to talk to. I called at least 4 times...once I came so close to talking to an actual human....and they hung up on me!!!! I was also not pleased when they told me that my "tech support time" had expired and to have my credit card ready....HUH???? I just wanted to ask a simple question! When I finally got to talk to a human, I was so frazzled it was all I could do to keep my composure with her. In the end I found out the guy told me wrong and COD was not an option. I'm now going to have to pay $25 to send in their faulty product...SCAM!

I will never buy another Toshiba product again. I LOVE my Thrive, but the poor customer service is not worth it.

Bought this product 4 months ago. Part of the outside plastic frame towards the bottom of the product has broken off. In fact, about 1.5"" have broken off, right up against the actual screen.

Have contacted Toshiba service center and got the usual run of the mill answer - "we do not cover wear and tear".

Buyer Beware.

I love it, I'm a photographer and this has all the connections I need to connect to my camera. Full HDMI, mini USB, & USB good for memory sticks, also added a 32G SD card for added storage. I've also just started doing video and the graphics are great. The video playback is decent could be better, the only bad thing is the speakers. Not loud enough, my phone is louder then my tablet. They need an upgrade, works great if you add head phones; but if your showing a potential client a video you should need to give them head phones.

Primarily my laptop alternate, I use for email and with Office Suite Pro. Movies and entertainment work well also when I use them. I am envious of devices wth better/blacker screen and the speakers could definitely be improved. Tinny sound really a turn-off. Overall I am pleased enough to buy one for my son for school as well. Very useful and convenient.

So that you can spread out, connect, expand and share with an array of full-size ports, including HDMI®, USB 2.0 and Mini USB, plus an SD card slot.   I quite like my Thrive...though I got it much cheaper elsewhere. Full size + mini USB, and removable rechargeable battery, & SD slot are nice features not found on many other tablets
  
  Just a few of the free book sites: Moon Reader;--which includes Project Gutenberg;...."e books".(10,000 free)..Audiobooks;...even found you can download Nicholas Sparks books free...I'm sure this is much more I haven't had time to explore...of course you can download Kindle and other readers...and buy books through them.
