I use this for 3D gaming, Photoshop CS$ and Elements CS4, DVD encoding, mass downloads, I've installed XP, Vista, 7, and linux each time the hardware handled great.

The intell atom N280 is the strongest single core in the atom series, 1core 2threads @ 1.66ghz. 2 threads meaning the single processor core can handle 2 processes.

Great size keyboard.

The atom N280 is overclockable with adequate cooling. The battery Sticks out the butt just a little bit, Although no other netbook has surpassed The toshiba/Samsung Battery running 6-cells at over 9 hours.

Descent webcam,Upgradable to 2 gigabytes of DDR2-800, AKA PC-6400.

160gb Toshiba HDD is replacable with a solid state drive, You can even replace the PCIE wireless card with an 8gb, 16gb, or 32gb PCIE SSD to house your OS and programs while still having your HDD as mass storage.

I've tested Countless netbooks, MSI wind, Acer Aspire One, HP mini with and without solidstate.
The only Netbook that can compare is the ASUS line of netbooks with there built in OverClocking abilities.

This netbook seems to be more solidly built than other cheaper models. The ability to access the memory and hard disk from the bottom of the netbook will allow easy upgrades and is not typical for netbooks. I was able to upgrade the OS to Windows 7 Ultimate and it ran fine and can play back HD videos.

The first time I saw this on Staples shelf, I knew the Toshiba was head and shoulders above any competitor. The specs are far better than others and it claims long battery life which, surprisingly, is true. It is much better looking too. The HP has that shiny black finish which is a display for fingerprints. The Toshiba exceeded my already high expectations. It is very fast on the internet on home wireless network. It has a good receiver and makes a good connection in a part of my house where other laptops can't get a signal. Here's my battery diary for today. Took a short flight and used for a half hour. On longer flight used the better part of four hours on a Word document and even watched a DVD movie for about a half hour. Got to hotel and have used the better part of two hours including internet time, Skype (for which it works incredible well) and now writing this review. Battery life remaining this moment is 43%. The touch pad is more sensitive than I'm used to but I'm sure I'll get used to it. One note of caution on the Windows 7 Basic that comes on the Toshiba: you may not be able to do a home network with it. I had trouble with that but bought the next level upgrade which seems to be working now but still having problems getting one printer recognized - but that's Windows 7, not the Toshiba. I like this computer so well that I will use it as my primary computer and dock it to my monitor, wireless keyboard, printer,etc. and leave my desktop turned off. Don't worry about lack of DVD/CD. I bought the I/O Magic DVD player and burner and it works fine. It's compact and plugs in easily by USB.I have been eyeing the netbooks for some time now and I believe this is a true breakthrough machine. Great price at [$] for the speed, specs, battery life and appearance. Don't think twice about it. Get it.

It's very portable and light weight. Love the design and easy to use. Unless there is something wrong with mine, it's very slow. Going to call and check to see if this is the norm for this netbook. Besides the speed, I love it.
