Well, it really depends on your computer and the second monitor. DVI and VGA are both alternative solutions for connecting external displays. If your computer has a spare DVI connector (the white one shown in the image) then it will likely work. DVI cables can carry a VGA compatible analog signal and may convert to a VGA display. On the other hand, a VGA source (the blue connector in the image) on your computer cannot drive a DVI display. Most LCD monitors will accept either VGA or DVI, but you should also verify that before purchase.
