Great Value

The size and weight of this lamp is ideal for a desktop application. The versatile design permits use with either a weighted base or a table clamp (both supplied), however, that verstility does sacrifice location of the switch, which has to be in-line on the power supply. That requires the cord to be visible and accessible for use. Otherwise there appears to be no design flaws, unless you consider use of plastic in some areas a flaw. The lid hinge is a bit flimsy but functional. Doubles as a magnifier or simply as a lamp and doesn't take much space. Much better than more cumbersome units I've owned before. Construction is neither cheesy nor high end; just a really good value.

Easy on the eyes

For the price it isn't bad. It really lacks the flexability in order to use the magnifier, but the light is gentle and does a great job!

Does the light producing any heat? Is it comparable to an LED or a halogen light in comparison to heat output.

  The VS40203B uses a T4 Circline bulb which does not produce as much heat as an halogen light. The T4 Circline does produce slightly more heat than an LED, but the lamp will not be uncomfortably hot to the touch.

2) What is the lens made of?

3) What is the make of the lamp? (if plastic and metal, which ones are plastic and which ones are made of metal?

  Yes the angle is adjustable, but there are no knobs. It uses spring tension to hold it in place. The reach of the arm is approximately 20".
