I purched this light as a gift for a 95 yr old with Glaucoma 9/21/12. She used it! Loved it! Mid Jan. the switch broke. I called Victory to order a new switch. They said send it back at first, then said send invoice copy and they would send a replacement light via UPS. I'm still waiting after a month. Victory is some sort of Staples "partner" which doesn't include oversight or control apparently. Beware of ordering items to be shipped by others not from Staples warehouse to avoid problems like this. My mother has a beautiful light unit that doesn't work with no recourse. Very disappointing.No stars for this Co.

I have purchased several of these over the years from different manufacturers. I am generally unhappy with modern and Chinese-made products. This was a very pleasant change from what I have come to expect. Although I have just started using it, it seems well made and will, with luck, be durable and provide good life/utility.

Instructions state that lamp gets hot and metal part too, hence the handle on it. The magnifying lens does not have a cover to protect against scratches or dust. Very good, sturdy construction and nice finish. Flourescent bulb.

Nice attractive lamp that seems well made. Take it out of the box, clamp it to the desk, plug it in and your ready to go. Seems comparable to other lamps at nearly twice the cost.

is the clamp metal or plastic? Do I need tools to install this?
I bought a plastic mag. lamp and it lasted 2 weeks before the plastic clamp broke!
I NEED a good lamp but don't want to spend a ton of money. Can't actually. Any info you can give me about the quality of this lamp..I would really appreciate!

  It is a metal clamp. You do not need tools to install this lamp, it does require minor assembly from the box though. This lamp has very good reviews so far, compared to the less expensive magnifying lamps that we are carrying. However, It really depends what you're planning on using the lamp for and what you would like to get out of the lamp.
