Without springs, and with a poor quality friction design on the main joint, this is a difficult lamp to use. I loved it for a few days, but I adjust my lamp constantly as I work on small, intricate projects. After a few days, the lamp would not hold its position. If I had loosened and re-tightened both joints every time I adjusted it, it would likely have worked longer, but that's a real pain!
If you just need a lamp that will point in the same place all the time, this is a good choice. It looks good and, apart from the adjustment mechanism, is a good lamp. If you need to adjust regularly, look elsewhere for one with decent springs.

Base clamp is thin plastic & cracks easy

The base clamp is made of thin brittle plastic and it broke after several months even though I always kept the lamp in the same position.

To replace this broken lamp, I got Staples lamp #408203 that has a thicker base clamp and also has springs so you can move it w/o untightening the joints. It was also less expensive than this lamp.

Great Lamp and functionality! Got it at great discounted price (lower than shown on AD). The finish is nickel plated and looks awesome on my modern office furniture! Easy to adjust the direction of lighting. Glad I got this at discounted price! Will buy same one if It's on sale again! Oh, I was able to use my Rewards dollars too at Staples with the purchase! What a deal!!!!!
