Out of the box and good to go almost immediately and I'm no techie. Scanned right away, plugged it into my laptop and was looking at clear images without a glitch even at the lowest DPI. It easily scans register reports and it's the only one I found out there that will scan longer than 11". The hard case means it can go right into my laptop bag to use anywhere.

After reading reviews was so excited to get this & start scanning thousands of old photos. Easy to set up, but after 25-30 tries I gave up. Each time the light came on & I'd start the scan. After 1/2" the scanner would stop. Returned.
