Comments about Wacom PTH450 Intuos5 - Small Pen Tablet:

I feel that at this point in Wacom's development, they've pretty much reached the point where any more sensitivity on the drawing surface would be impossible to notice. The level of responsiveness is really that impressive. However, the drawing surface for some reason only seems to be as large as the section of the tablet marked by the white box in the middle, which is puzzling. I think there might be a good reason for this, but I haven't found any way to use it. Customization is absolutely the best yet. This is the first tablet I've owned where I could perform all the functions I wanted without having to keep my keyboard close for shortcuts.

In spite of its great performance, however, I have noticed two problems which make me concerned about how long the tablet can last (Had it for a year so far). The drawing surface gets scuff marks on it from virtually anything rubbing against it, and though they don't interrupt the stroke of the pen or anything, they look awful and there's no way to clean them off, which is kind of a disappointment. The big problem I had was that my pen's pressure sensor broke within about 4 months. It became impossible to use, and Wacom charges $70 for a new one. To be fair, I travel a lot with it, so maybe it was damaged from being toted around with all my other equipment, but it is still worth noting.

Comments about Wacom PTH450 Intuos5 - Small Pen Tablet:

The drawing tablet is easy to use. It's set up is very simple and easy to understand. I have yet to run into any problems with the tablet. The only problem I seem o have with it is that the drawing itself is on a screen on the tablet. I mainly use it to draw anime, comics, and edit photos. I seem to only use my previous Photoshop CS2 and the sketch pad download it came with. One of my other friends already had the tablet so the very few questions I had on it I didn't have to go far to ask. Overall I love this, I may not be experienced in this but the little bit can do are much more professional looking than just with my mouse.

Comments about Wacom PTH450 Intuos5 - Small Pen Tablet:

This was an excellent purchase. I'm very happy with the ease of use of this tablet for editing my pictures. I'm a novice photographer and have been frustrated with using the mouse with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop and this made it so much easier. The ease of actually being able to use a pen instead of a mouse is helpful. It also is able to be used as a large trackpad. I also am impressed with the personalization of the pen and tablet to your specifications and specification for each different program that you can use.

Comments about Wacom PTH450 Intuos5 - Small Pen Tablet:

Wacom is the best. I wish they would move the preferences (for function buttons)) to the "application" preferences, and take out of the system preferences. Managing the function buttons from within the application being used will be easier to modify and control what application is being affected. When in the system preferences. It's easy to forget which application is selected while modifying the function attributes. Loosing preferences already set.

Comments about Wacom PTH450 Intuos5 - Small Pen Tablet:

I own a fairly large tshirt buisness and use this product religiously to edit shirt designs and draw shirt designs freehand. You can't get the look you want from photos. Sometimes you have to do it yourself and this product does it all very comfortable in the hand and a smooth drawing surface with the right computer program this product is second to none.

How does this compare to the Bamboo? I know it has touch and buttons, but is the stylus more sensitive? I currently own a Bamboo. If I buy an Intuos, will I notice more responsiveness when I'm drawing in the same programs?

            A:

The Bamboo is not as pressure sensitive as the Intuos. The Intuos are more realistic to tactile mediums than the Bamboo. All the posts I read state they love the Intuos.

From all the information I was able to gather there is no technical information to suggest this 'drawing' tablet can read e-books; however since it does run windows programs, I believe there is a possibility to find third party software that you may be able to use.

        • Q:

What are the differences between all the Wacom Tablets besides size & price? How would I know which one is right for me? I've never used a Tablet before. However, I want to design jewelry; I would like to draw pictures for, and a cover for a Children's book; and, I also love photography and I'm very interested in photographic artwork. Could you give me some advice? I write Children's Literature & YA novels. I also am breaking into the Jewelry Design field. Thank you!

Some of the larger sized Wacom tablets have more hot keys or buttons on them. However, the functions are almost exact between the sizes.

There are many new features with the Intuos5. The Intuos5 introduced touch capabilities which will allow you to zoom, pan, and rotate your canvas by touching the tablet. Another feature new to Intuos5 is the option to use it with a wireless signal in the smaller sizes.

Personally, I have the Intuos4 Large. I love it, the surface area is big, you may be interested in the medium sized tablet which has an 8.8" x 5.5" active area. The surface texture is smooth and it is very easy to let your creativity soar and stay inspired.

Wacom tablets are differentiated by size and how sensitive they are and how many features they possess. The more expensive the tablet the more sensitive it will be and the more features it will have.
