Can't remove label without damaging cork

On the surface, this seems like a silly thing to comment about, but I wanted a good-quality ruler to use for a long time, but I couldn't get the label off of this one...Read complete review

On the surface, this seems like a silly thing to comment about, but I wanted a good-quality ruler to use for a long time, but I couldn't get the label off of this one without banging up the cork backing. My brand-new ruler is a mess to look at. It still functions, but it looks like junk. Couldn't you put the label on the front, where it would peel off the metal without leaving a mess?

I mean come on! for basically the same price as a plastic one you can have metal! sword fight with your friends and win!, use it a electrical conductor when you need to bridge a gap. Oh I guess you can use it for measuring, drawing straight lines and the things it's made for, but what's the fun in that!?!

The only thing I can think people can complain about this would be that the cork on the back raises the edge off the paper, and if you're one of those people who puts the tip of the pen/pencil on the edge, this might take a little getting used to. But heck it's metal! buy it! buy it now! If fact I'm going to get another right now *walks out the door*

Nice Ruler, Cannot Remove Label on Cork?

This is a very nice ruler EXCEPT they put a large sticky UPC label on the cork side of the ruler. I can't seem to remove the label without damaging the cork, which is disappointing. If the label was on the front/metal side of the ruler, it could be removed and cleaned up with adhesive remover.

I've used Bates National & C-Thru rules for years & they both have square, sharp corners. This Westcott is accurate for a 12" rule, though this rule is an 1/8" longer to allow for rounded corners. It doesn't gouge through when packing it into a bag or envelope. A welcome feature. The price is right, coming in nearly half the other brand's pricing.

After being fed-up with my old plastic rulers that easily chipped and my wooden on that somehow warped and was no longer straight, I decided to upgrade to a stainless steel ruler. A great choice indeed!
