Awesome PS3 UPRADE

I used this product to upgrade my 80gb ps3, I wanted more room for the amount of stuff I use my ps3 for and this worked wonderfully.

After a month it died.

Bought this hard drive because WD has a good reputation for quality products. It installed easily and after setting everything up it operated well for just over a month. Then one day last week my wife went to use her laptop and it wouldn't boot up. Tried the WD diagnostic utility that I downloaded online but to no avail. The HD was kaput. I am currently awaiting arrival of a replacement and it should be here any day. I will say that the WD warranty retunr procedure is very easy. Hopefully the replacement HD will last longer than one month.

The store people urged professional installation only. Since I wanted a dirt cheap fix for a dying laptop, I took the hard-drive home to try myself. Things were not going so well until I figured out that, since I was reinstalling an operating system, there was no device driver on the machine to recognize the hard drive. I had to reinstall my drivers on the laptop from the original vendor disk. After that everything fell into place. The new hard-drive was recognized and installed, and I could finish installing the operating system onto it. Western Digital has a "how-to" video you can google that shows the hardware procedures, but makes no mention of reinstalling drivers before the OS install.
