Create your own cloud storage space by adding this WD My Book Live drive to your network. The drive provides up to 4TB of storage space for your system, and any device on the network is able to store and access data on the drive quickly and easily.

  • Personal Cloud Storage
    • The WD My Book Live contains two hard drives that provide a total of 4TB of storage space for your system. The device can connect to your network through a wireless router, allowing the My Book Live to function as a personal cloud storage device. You can replace either of the device's hard drives if one is damaged or if you want to upgrade to a larger drive.
  • RAID 1 Setting
    • The WD My Book Live includes a RAID 1 setting that provides you with mirrored storage space. When you use the device in RAID 1 mode, data is stored twice-once on each of the device's drives. This feature provides you with a redundant copy of your data, so that if one drive is damaged, you can still access your data on the second drive. When you use the hard drive in RAID 1 mode, its capacity is halved, allowing only 2TB of storage.
  • Shared Storage
    • Once the drive is connected to your network, any device that has access to the network can access the drive. This allows multiple computers or network devices to use the storage space simultaneously. Computers and other devices can also access the drive remotely if the network that the drive is attached to is connected to the Internet.

        Another WD hard drive that doesn't do what it is advertise, got this one on 05/08/2013, try numerous time to configure for RAID it took 40 hours and just got to 50%, very slow configuration, also try to set it up to be remote it works from tablets and smartphones, but it was unrecognizable from the computers attached to the same network.

          I have had files distributed accross four systems for years, and often it has taken a lot of time getting the right files on the system I needed them. Now, I have a disk big enough to hold them all and they are effectively available on all systems. There are many projects (that are now moving forward because it is now convienient to make these large collections of files and be able to get at them from where ever you are.

          Cannot believe staples sells this product. I wish I had read online reviews before I bought it. It was a quick decision - and a very bad one at that. I am writing it off completely. It is actually too slow to even bother using.

          Overall, it is a good product, especially for the price. You will not find a NAS out there that comes with 4TB of installed storage, with the capabilities of the DUO, for the price. I do wish it had more add-ons and plugins. The FeaturePacks Manager is a nice add-on, but you have to do a lil but of work to get it installed.
