All that I have to say is wow! I have a custom built desktop computer that I had built in 2002. I just had my first problem with it where the hard drive crashed. It was an IBM 125gb hard drive. It served its purpose all these years with no complaints. Well it finally died and I had to replace it. I went to Staples and they had it in stock. I installed it and I cant believe the diffference. My old hard drive made an old school booting sound (most of you tech geeks know the sound). Well this new drive truly has whisper technology. My computer doesnt make a peep now while booting and its lightning quick. I got it on a "special" sale of [$] plus I got the 3 year warranty for $9.99 in case anything goes wrong with it. It fit the same as the old drive. After 1 day, I just cant say enough of how much this drive has brought my 2002 custom built computer back to life. Also...I found out that EIDE no longer exists..your choices are SATA and PATA. SATA is for newer models for todays technology and PATA is for the older generation pc's like mine.

            Bought the 500GB EIDE to replace 7 year old 80GB EIDE for increased data memory- both WDC Cavier drives. Moved 100GB Cavier to System drive, 500GB as data drive & 80GB to drive tray to hold system drive image B/U's. Have used WDC drives in all my systems with great success.

                    I needed to replace my C: drive which also contained a hidden partition. I added the new drive and kept the old drive installed to transfer the data. WD provided a download for a program to perform the transfer. It would not run. Fortunately I owned a copy of Partition Magic which transferred all of the data from the old drive to the new one. I than removed the old drive, repositioned the new one and all was well.
