I use this product so I can take my music, videos and pictures with me. Slim design fits perfectly in my laptop case even when I need to bring the laptops charger. I would have liked to see this same design utilize a few more color choices other than black, but after all your not impressing anyone with it, your just needing extra/portable storage. It transfers files at a normal rate, nothing special. I recommended this to many people while it was on sale.. I would definitely buy another if I were getting a little pressed on storage.

Insufficent Technical Data

The product description and technical specs on the package are limited at best. This product does not contain a back up application; therefore, you are on your own to use your OS backup capabilities or purchase a usable application. Had the specs been clear I would have spent a few dollars more to buy a user friendly product with a user freindly back up application. Very dissapointing!!

Much to my surprise my purchase price of a WBBABV5000ABK from STAPLES was over the top compared to other websites selling the same thing even with my credit savings. Shop around first before you buy any electronics from this website or store especially if you get free shipping some place else.

I transfered 3 computers worth of "stuff" to the drive. Will put it in an off site safe and will bring it back monthly to update. Was able to dump the multiple copies of photos I'd been keeping "just in case". I probably couldn't have found them quickly like I can now that the're all in one place.

  No this will not be able to backup your software to run it on another computer. I would suggest contacting Quicken to find the best way to do this; you may need another licence.

  No, this drive will not do automatic back up. There is no software to install you simply plug it in to any USB port and start saving your photos, music, video, and files.

  No separate adapter needed for power. This is a portable hard drive. Portables access power through the computer. You simply plug in the supplied usb cable and go! Alternatively, external hard drives need a separate power supply to function.
