Give your data a home outside of your system with the WD My Passport Studio portable hard drive. The drive allows you to store data externally for easy transportation or to back up your data to ensure that you have a replacement available for files or directories that may become lost or corrupted on your internal hard drive.

High-Speed Storage
The WD My Passport Studio contains 500GB of portable storage space. The drive is formatted for use with a Mac operation system, but it can be quickly reformatted for use with a PC. The included USB 2.0 or FireWire 800 connectors ensure high data transfer rate of the device. Two FireWire 800 ports are available to allow you to daisy chain a second portable hard drive that's also equipped with a FireWire port for additional storage space.

Data Security
The My Passport Studio drive can be secured with a password and hardware encrypted. This keeps your data safe from prying eyes, allowing only authorized personnel to access the contents.

Apple Time Machine Compatibility
In addition to being pre-formatted for Mac use, the drive is also compatible with Apple's Time Machine backup system. Using Time Machine, you can create complete or partial backups of your Mac's data, saving it in time-stamped selections on the portable drive. When data is corrupted or lost on your internal drive, you can choose to restore it from the external drive, selecting the precise date that you wish to restore the files from. This can also be done with your entire operating system if you choose a complete backup.
