    When you pull the slide out thing comes out what is the space there for? Also is there like an hole where you wire the cords if you have a laptop?

      Yes, there is a hole cut in the desk to hide the cords right behind the pull out drawer. Instead of a traditional slide out drawer/keyboard tray, Whalen has made that space into a concealed, slide-open storage compartment for small office supplies.     How much weight can the top shelf hold, and how big of a monitor does the middle shelf accomidate?

      A:

      The top shelf will hold approx 20lbs. The middle section is about 34" wide, however the viewing is only 18" wide at most. Therefore, we would recommend a monitor 18" wide or less.

      The monitor space will accommodate a monitor roughly about 18 inches wide. The weight limit is dependent on how well it is assembled and its location in the house (eg. Hardwood floors, carpet.)

      The measurement for the length of the shelf between the two up right units is as follows:
      This top shelf is an odd shape, the board across the front is 24.5" long & 7.95" deep, the length is measured as a rectangle, however it has points at the ends, triangle, and the measurements from point to point is 34.92" long. But the length of the self just as a rectangle shaped shelf is 24.5".

      Yes, it will take up 50 inches on each wall, since it is a corner design workstation. You won't be able to use the open back part of it, except for no more then the cords for your computer.
