This upgrade was essential for me to use all my software. Some software Windows 7 would not run at all... but I was able to use it in XP. So, it has a virtual machine and all that software I am totally able to use under Windows 7 using the xp virtual machine. I love it. It is like having 2 operating systems on your computer.

When using it, you need to treat it like a completely separate operating system meaning you need antivirus etc. just as those you have installed on Windows 7.

For older games, they all run on xp.

To upgrade Windows, just go to Windows Anytime Upgrade in your Control Panel. You can pay for a product key there, or you can buy this little box (which is just a product key with no disc) from Staples.

I bought this upgrade from Staples so I could have a disc and product key to store with my other software boxes for future use if needed. When I realized it was just a piece of cardboard with a number on it, I felt pretty dumb.

Comments about Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium to Professional Upgrade:

Vista would not accept many earlier files which had worked in XP, nor would Windows 7 Home Premium. This upgrade to 7 Professional allowed all of those older programs to be re-installed without difficulty.

Comments about Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium to Professional Upgrade:

I mainly purchased this to be able to run older software in XP mode, however, not one of my older programs which previously ran on my old XP computer has installed in XP mode on the new one because there is still a conflict with Windows 7 being 64-bit. Very frustrated and spending more money on add'l new software. XP mode isn't all that it's advertised to be.
