If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:

  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space(32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
Additional requirements to use certain features:
  • Internet access (fees may apply)
  • Depending on resolution, video playback may require additional memory and advanced graphics hardware
  • For some Windows Media Center functionality a TV tuner and additional hardware may be required
  • Windows Touch and Tablet PCs require specific hardware
  • HomeGroup requires a network and PCs running Windows 7
  • DVD/CD authoring requires a compatible optical drive
  • BitLocker requires Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2
  • BitLocker To Go requires a USB flash drive
  • Windows XP Mode requires an additional 1 GB of RAM, an additional 15 GB of available hard disk space, and a processor capable of hardware virtualization with Intel VT or AMD-V turned on
  • Music and sound require audio output

Great OS, it's fast and it's great for gaming. Runs well and so far i've had very few issues since the RC. I really like the new interface and it's a huge upgrade from vista and xp. I recommend this os to anyone.

I got this Ultimate version so I could take advantage of the multilingual user interface (you can change the display language that Windows uses, ONLY in this edition of Windows).

The full version of Windows 7 Ultimate is impossible to get at any brick and mortar store. Luckily, when I went to a Staples store, the store manager helped me get it by having it ordered via the store's computer. It took about 2 business days for it to get to the store.

As soon as I got home, I ripped open the disc and installed the OS. It installed in just under 16 minutes (I timed it).

It looked and performed WAY better than Vista did. I found everything compatible with Windows 7. I have nothing to complain about.

I am a QuickBooks Pro Advisor. The one thing I have noticed is Intuit will not support any software before the 2010 release running in Windows 7. This may change as the operating system ages. Since I update software with every release this has not been a problem for me.

However, I still have some clients running in QB 2009 and it will not email invoices to customers from the 2009 Version. This is one thing you might want to consider before upgrading if you use QB Software. Beyond that, I truly love Windows 7. It is much easier to navigate and function in than Vista!
