When I heard that windows XP would not have any more support, I called staples and ask if my computer would handle the new windows 8.1, They did a diagnostic on my computer and found several problems. They had to put more ram memory on the computer, install a new drive, which was a third of the usual cost. They downloaded the 8.1 windows. After finishing the download, we found that it would not connect to my network at home. They took it back and started working on it. It seemed to be working, I took the computer back home. It worked for about two hours and started with the same problem. Staples took it back and found it was an apparent corrupted download of the Windows 8.1. I took it back and they redid the installation. Now, After a week, it is working fine. Getting used to the new program, it seems to be working fine. Staples was very cooperative with the problems. They were very fair with the problems that came up.

Thank you for all the work your staff performed on the computer.

They should have left Windows 7 alone. Program has to many features I will never use and features that are unnecessary. They changed my regular programs such as Word and Excel and the new programs are not user friendly. I had to reinstall Office 2003 to get rid of the new unfriendly programs. Their programmers have written this version, not with an end user in mind, but for what the programmers think we should use. The program has to much security and to many files are hidden and not accessible. They also have the same files in duplicate locations. I have found editing on set of files does not change the second set. They claim this is the best, who's kidding who? I made a big mistake upgrading to Win 8 and cannot uninstall and go back to Win 7. Why don't they just leave well enough alone???

Comments about Microsoft Windows 8.1 (1- License) [Boxed]:

I am very pleased with Staple's technical assistants. They were all courteous and obviously well acquainted with the newest version of windows. I had a very difficult time fining and getting used to desktop items I used to find easily on the old version XP. I finally found email. I spent about five hours and still have a lot to find and learn.
I would recommend Staples offer a quick rundown on where and how to find programs. If I would have been given a quick look, I'm certain it would have been easier for me at home. Windows 8.1 is totally different than XP. I was surprised to see such a great difference. All that said, I am totally satisfied with Staples who also removed a terrible virus from my computer. Thank you very much.
