After purchasing other sharpeners, this one is here to stay, litterly. Once I received this, I was amazed at the weight. After installation, of course I had to try. The housing never moved. Pencels were sharpened in about three seconds. Noise was minimal.

Decent purchase
It takes too long to sharpen just one pencil, and makes a very fragile point. Guess a good purchase for the money, but only recommend for occasional use at home.

Comments about X-ACTO XLR 1818 Electric Pencil Sharpener Black:
Makes a loud grinding noise when sharpening pencils and takes longer than necessary. "Chewed" the painted pencil area above the sharpened area. Overheats quickly. Won't be purchasing this again.
Comments about X-ACTO XLR 1818 Electric Pencil Sharpener Black:
I went with this unit because it looked like the old Boston 1800 series machines, but the Exacto is not a Boston. I found that the opening for the pencil is a bit too tight. Some larger round pencils don't fit at all. It will also sharpen a pencil "off center" (i.e. the lead is sharpened unevenly) if you don't stick the pencil in perfectly straight the first time. It is powerful enough, easy to clean and is heavy. Certainly of office quality, but this unit has a few issues.
