I LIKE IT!

Read the Reviews before deciding whether to purchase - but some reviewers bought without checking specs.

Read the specifications. Most importantly:
1. Weight bearing up to 50 pounds.
2. Intended for hanging folders ONLY -
drawer bottoms are lightweight and not
intended to hold anything heavy or sharp.
3. Wood is more attractive than metal, but is
NOT as durable as a commercial metal cabinet.

It takes time to assemble, but is NOT difficult.

Assemble on a towel or soft cloth to protect the finish.
Follow the instructions - glue needs to be put into EVERY hole before the dowel goes in. Suggest making sure you have extra Elmer's white glue or equivalent on hand. OK to overload on glue so long as damp cloth/paper towel is used immediately to wipe off excess before it dries. Take your time and double-check your work. Even though I've assembled numerous do-it-yourself furniture kits, I still stuck a dowel into a hole used for a cam lock.
It is helpful to have both small and medium phillips screwdrivers (#1 and #2).

Last, most difficult step (not in instructions):
After completing assembly, leave it alone for 24 hours to allow the glue to dry.

MOST problems are likely the result from hurrying.

It's nice enough that I use it as a night table since my computer is on my desk in the bedroom. However, it really doesn't hold alot of weight since the drawers started to come apart within a couple of weeks. I had to use Gorilla Glue to hold it together. I would suggest gluing all the pegs when assembling.

If you are using this for filing, I highly recommend this product. Unfortunately, I needed this to support my new Brother 9840 four-in-one printer. I am now up that creek without a paddle because after spending about an hour and a half assembling the unit, on the very last page and on the very last line of the instructions is the fact that the unit can only support 50 lbs. My printer is 83 lbs. Now what am I suppose to do?

If weight bearing is not an issue, then I would recommend this unit. It was easy and fun to assemble. Honest.

This is a great little cabinet but the one drawback to it as I've found out is that if the key to it is lost locksmiths can't duplicate or make one. I recently lost the key to the one in my office and the locksmith is having to find a lock that will replace the old one so I can once again be able to lock it. The reason I'm giving it only 2 stars is because of the impossibility of not being able to have a key made for this lock.

This is the best purchase I've made in long time. Great quality, great look, study wood cabinet with a great finish. Drawers open smoothly and can hold either letter or legal size pendaflex folders with top locking drawer. Very easy to assemble. All wood sections are labeled along with the hardware to match each section. Could be used as an accent piece in any room. I purchased one for my computer room, assembled it easily, and went back the next day to purchase another one for my second floor!

I like the design of this file cabinet and found it very easy to assemble myself. I have two at home that we use as end tables because they do not look like file cabinets and will order one for my office. The only possible improvement for me would be if the bottom drawer locked.
