I have a Zebra mechanical pencil that I purchased in 1997 when I went to college. I took all my notes and many tests with the Zebra pencil. I'm still using it daily, but when I realized how long I'd had it I started stressing too much about losing it at work so I had to buy another. The 11-year-old pencil now stays home for home use only. Having used a Zebra I can't bring myself to use anything else. I love it.

I keep a Staedtler Mars Plastic eraser handy. They're the best anyway.

I still use a paper address book and using a pencil allows me to erase/modify my entries as necessary. Because this pencil is comfortable and is a 5mm, it's easy to make entries into the book and make small annotations.
