This is my go-to pen for grading lab reports. I give lots of feedback and want the comments to get noticed by students. I am fond of retractable pens so I don't have a cap to lose and I like the smooth writing of this type of gel pen. As a con, I wrote runs out of ink -- but I like and use this pen so much that I actually keep track of it long enough to run it dry!

This is my favorite red pen - the only one I buy for office use.

Write with the tip face down.

It doesn't write well horizontally, or on textured surfaces.

For example, if you're using it with an easel to cross things off your to-do list, the writing quality sucks - it looks like a pen that's running out of ink.

I think I threw out a few of these, before I figured this out, that it needs gravity to work. They should put this on the box as instructions.

Writing with them face down on a pad of paper (cushiony surface) or a hard smooth surface vs. a textured plastic surface, also gives better quality writing.

These are not "Brand", but perhaps better.
