The Zoom/Modem V.92 COMBO Model 3048 is a high-performance56K fax modem that plugs into the serial port of a computer using aWindows or Macintosh operating system. It also works with DOS, Linuxand Unix computers. The Model 3048's performance isenhancedby an on-board Controller, DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and ITU V.92 / V.44standard compatibility.

The new V.44 compression technology results in significantly fasterWeb browsing and download speeds. As an added convenience, theZoom/Modem V.92 COOMBO allows an incoming phone call to be received without losing an Internet connection.

  The Zoom modem will not allow you to send or receive faxes from your computer. The modem is a dial-up modem, and needs a dedicated land line with a dial-up ISP account in order to work. Magic Jack works through your DSL connection.

  You cannot connect this to an Ethernet port; you need a serial port which many laptops no longer have. Check out a modem with a USB connection.
