For the past six months I used the scanner at home to scan all of my incoming paper documents so that I can maintain a paperless office.

The scanner works well but it is very very slow compared to what I use at work. I hate the flat top because I have to open it for every page - both to remove one document and place the next. I hate that it does not duplex, and that it lacks a document feeder, what a wsate of my time. It requires a lot of manual work to get the job done.

The software is very confusing and took much trial and error to learn prior to fully setting up my filing system. It comes with several software options, each of which you need to try in order to find the one that will meet your needs. Finally, it allows for convenient setup of your filing cabinet but you flip between screens/programs in order to save a document and you need to manually remove a check mark from a box that if not removed will automatically store your items within your selected file folder by the date of the scan, which makes it hard to find your document unless you remember the exact date you scanned it.

I would recommend that you purchase an autofeed scanner that allows the document to exit the machine without your assistance. If you plan to scan multi-page documents use an autofeed unit. If you plan to scan front/back use an autofeed duplex unit. This one will simply frustrate you and waste your time.

It is great for scanning pics, but not if you have a large volume of pics from years of print photography. Scanning from negatives (film) is frustrating and the pieces fall apart. Don't buy this unit if your goal is to scan from negatives.

Did I mention how slow the unit is? Very very slow. Keep a good book handy for large document processing. Although more expensive, I learned my lesson and I am planning to purchase an autofeed scanner.

This is a really nice scanner. It is fast, quieter than my old one, easy to set up and the software is simple. I have not used it for slides or negatives yet, but everything else seems to work perfectly. I have no complaints about this machine, except the top is black and I hate to dust....it shows dust badly. would rather have had a matt silver finish. oh well. I'm loving it anyway.

Love the push buttons that make especially copying one step. Having great results with the program that lets me manipulate scanned images. Useful that it will scan slightly larger than 8.5x11.

Since it's black in color it shows the dust and I'm not really big on dusting but it's the best scanner I've ever owned. I know this one will last me a long time.
