Since the writing surface of this sleek, modern beauty is made of glass, it's about as easy to clean as possible. Any easier and the ink would slide off as you wrote on it. With a bright white backing behind the glass, legibility should be very good as long as you're careful with lighting so as not to introduce glare from the glossy surface. Would it be appropriate for an 8-year-old girl? That depends on how careful she is. It's a six-foot by three-foot chunk of tempered glass, after all, so she'll have to be certain to be conscientiously safety-oriented all the time. (Tempered glass shatters into small pieces when broken, not jagged shards, but you don't want to see it in pieces of any size.) As I write this, there aren't yet any reviews for this item on the Staples website. Maybe your daughter can write the first one!
