              High quality blade dispenser including a disposal slot for worn blades - do not throw your blades in garbage! Light oil coating on blades to prevent rust may stain your working material, so be careful to clean the blade after insertion but before cutting your work material. Will cut paper almost endlessly, will begin to dull with moderate speed when cutting mat board or foam core. Blades will dull quickly when cutting soft metals, but make the perfect tool for cutting mylars, and natural materials like abalone.

                      X-Acto™ Knife Blade Dispenser, #2 Blades, 15/Pack

                      I suspect it is the size of the end that goes into the knife? My exactos both use one that is a hair less than 1/4". Am I wrong? If so, what IS the difference?

                        A:

                        #2 blades are for medium to heavy precision cutting and trimming.
                        #11 blades are for light cutting.

                        The #2 Blades do not fit into the standard #11 holders. (#2 is bigger; it's not just a lightweight cutting v. medium/heavyweight cutting issue.)
