After 1 1/2 yrs of use, our ML490 would not turn on. Filed a claim with Staples warranty and they immediately approved a replacement. [...] I guess I have to just buy another one and use the other as backup.

My MFC only worked for 6 mos. I'm glad I bought the warranty. It's too bad you have to use it so soon on an expensive unit.
Service for the warranty was great. They credited me the purchase $ towards a hopefully more reliable unit. I spent less than 1/2 hr in store.
The manager was very helpful.
