Needed to be updated out of the box to work properly. The buisness side of linksys seperating from the home user made the updates harder to find. Once the firmware and the vpn clint software were updated the router worked very well. The unit did not work out of the box and the support was difficult to find online.

Setup would have been easier if I had not based it so much on the old router this one replaced. Best bet: accept the default setting initially and save a backup as soon as you get it working, before doing advanced tweaks. When all functioning, save a new backup.

This router solved issues we had been having in our office network. Bandwidth management allows us to prioritize database traffic for maximum performance. And VPN allows staff members to access the LAN from remote locations.

I probably spent 4 hours with Linksys techs trying to make the VPN in this thing work - first tech was great but we never got it going - second tech flat gave up and blamed it on Vista despite my insistence they needed to help me - I finally figured it out myself (firewall issue one would *think* Linksys tech could fix) and it is working - I think. I am an IT person and fairly tech savvy, and this was not at all easy to set up.

the router has all this fancy security and vpn stuff but doesn't explain to a rookie how to use it. IT assume you're an IT professional and know it all... Very annoying since I'm a previous help desk person who now wear about 300 hats running a small business... and I don't have time to research the internet to find out how to set the this vpn network. IT asked for user names and passwords for the vpn set up but doesn't tell me if I'm create these or where these id's should be coming from. The help tells you nothing. ie..."in the user field type in the user"... dah!
