I originally bought this to cool my laptop but unfortunately had one of my external USB Hard Drives overheat and fry the drive. So I use it now to cool both of my external drives which can get superhot since most only have the surface area of the metal case to passively dispurse the heat. While having your main boot drive die is one of the worst feelings there is, having your external drive that you've used to store many years' worth of very large, difficult to replace files, (ie. DVD backups) isn't much better. I can fit 2 on this cooler lying flat side-by-side and they barely get warm. I ended up buying a 2nd one for the laptop itself. My only complaint is the wire that connects to USB passthru. It's a weak link because the poor design makes it susceptible to breaking from simple wear & tear if you're not extra gentle with it. If that breaks, you're left with a laptop stand that only LOOKS cool.

I purchased this item and one month later one of the fans became so noisy I had to stop using it. I called Antec about the warranty to find out that you must pay shipping to return to Antec. I'll use the shipping costs to buy another cooler from another company.

I've been using this product for a couple of days and its working great. My xps m1210 stays cool even when i'm playing for hours. My only con is the blue light which is way to bright at night. [...] I bought 2 of these and gave the other one to my niece for her birthday.

I wish this product were just a regular rectangular shape so that the laptop sits better on it. The "legs" of the laptop fall off to one end or other, due to the ameoba-like shape of this product.

It uses power from your USB port so you won't have to run any extra cables. It is fairly quiet and does what it's supposed to. After I installed it, I immediately noticed that the cooling fan on my laptop did not turn on nearly as much as before and when it did it didn’t stay on nearly as much.

The Antec Notebook Cooler works extremely well. It is very quiet and does a great job at keeping the laptop cool. The ability to keep the USB port on my laptop is a great feature, since my laptop only has one USB port.
The would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for a notebook cooler.
