I use my HL 2170W for both personal and work documents. The toner cartridge lasts about as long as I would expect it to...in my case, short of the 2,600 "possible" pages, but not bad at all, and well within range of that which my HP Laser jet at work gets for a comparable cartridge.

Not to demean anyone, but I think that folks really read too much, or mis-read, what is being "promised" with ANY laser or ink jet replacement carts! The estimated yield is exactly that,an estimation based on a theoretical average amount of ink or toner per page of text, only about 5% total coverage.

Even a few pages with any amount of graphics/photos or charts will greatly change the amount of toner/ink used versus what the estimated "average" is. The reality is that most of us will not get the number of pages per cartridge of ink or toner, and that is the same for all brands! That is not meant as a mis-leading figure, or an attempt to rip off the customer. In reality, it is impossible to quantify "pages" that can be printed, when the amount of toner/ink used can vary so widely based on usage.

It is indeed possible to get anywhere from 400 pages to 2,500 pages with the same cartridge, based on what is being printed.
