I bought this unit to add a DVD burner to my Acer laptap. I read the instructions which told me to uninstall Roxio if I had used it. As instructed, I removed Roxio from my Acer. I installed the drivers for the Memorex and then tried to re-boot the Acer as I was told to do. I WAS NEVER ABLE TO REBOOT THE ACER! I called Memorex and was told this was a "known issue"!!! I had to reformat the "C" drive on my Acer and lost all sorts of data that I had not backed up. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU HAVE USED ROXIO IN YOUR COMPUTER. IT MAY CAUSE THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD. I wouldn't even use it period for fear that there are other "known issues" Memorex doesn't tell you about!!

Has good features and is basically plug and play, but has resulted in some hardware conflicts with my XP Pro. Good value and performs well (after I coax my system to recognize the drive).
