I bought this for a second data drive in my new Desktop running Windows Vista 64 Bit. Bottom line is that it does work, but read below. Don't expect to get much help from their outsourced support.The software in the box states the requirements as Windows 2000 or Windows XP, so I contacted Western Digital. It appears that their support is outsourced to India and I had a difficult time communicating with them. The cryptic answer I got was that it would not run in Vista 64bit. I was ready to return it to Staples.I then noticed on the box that it said it was compatible with Vista/XP/2000 so I contacted them again via their email support.The first three communications with them resulted in a total misunderstanding of my issue. Then I received an email that basically said it would work then in the same email also said it would not work.I finally sent them one that said tell me the bottom line will it run in 64 bit or will it not. They told me it would.The installation wasn't as smooth as other WD drives i have installed. i did not install their software because the cryptic response said Vista would take care of it. It did but it basically reformatted the drive as opposed to the way the WD Software would have set it up. It seems to work just fine so far in my 64 bit environment, but it has been less than a week and I haven't fully tested it.
