Every pencil except the Sanford Eagle recycle (discontinued) left smudge marks for my left-handed son. He loves this pencil; the feel is good and his writing quality has dramatically improved. Highly recommended-- sharpens well, stays sharp, recycled (earth friendly), good feel.
