Conference Recording with Built-in Microphone allows the M-2000 to be used as general purpose recorder during meetings. The Remote Microphone Jack accepts an external microphone for special recording and the M-2000 features Telephone Recording capability using an optional telephone pick-up.

Two-Speed Operation permits a choice of 2.4cm/sec speed (30 minutes recording time per side of MC-60 MicroCassette) or 1.2cm/sec (60 minutes per side) and 2-Function Foot Control and Earphone lets the transcriber use both hands for keyboard entry or typing while listening to and controlling tape playback. A 3-Position Automatic Backspace lets the transcriber reverse the tape 0, 1, or 3 seconds, automatically, to review recorded material for transcribing onfirmation. A Speed Control feature lets the operator vary the playback speed while Tone and Volume Controls permit operator to adjust playback for the clearest and most desirable sound quality of any voice.

I am very disappointed with this item. Erase option is vital when doing transcription! I even shopped around for an external eraser and no one seems to have one.

I wasn't quite sure if I would like the Sony machine, but my old one had just about "bit the dust," so I bought the only one I could find at Staples. It took a few days to get used to it, but after that it was terrific! I use it daily for medical transcription at home (about 3 hrs. a day) and it has truly made my job easier and more enjoyable! The head set that came with it really seemed cheap and I prefer ones that cover the ears rather than fit into the ears, so I am using some old ones (with the foam pads worn out), but I plan to buy new ones, so that is an additional cost for me. But in total, I love the Sony machine!
