Comments about PNY GeForce 8400 GS PCI 512MB Verto Graphics Card:

Replaced an older nvidia card that wasn't compatible with EA Games. This new card is fabulous with the LOTR Battle for Middle Earth games we couldn't play before, looks amazing on our widescreen monitor. Games now run smoothly without freezing up. And since our main processor is 512 MB on this PC, we have really sped up ALL of the applications on this computer (including the internet and viewing photos) by "doubling" our effective processor size with this 512 MB video card. The "quick start" booklet was useless, though, didn't match what happens in Win XP at all. I struggled to load the drivers multiple times until I viewed the instruction manual on the disk (using a spare monitor) and saw that I needed to disable the on-board graphics card first. After that, everything went smoothly. I'm very pleased with this card's performance for our business (and casual gaming) applications, and it was an excellent value.

This is not a bad card for the casual user. Works well on my new Samsung 220wm monitor. Replaced the nvidia 5200. Don't be kidded, this is a way better card, and for [...]you can't go wrong.

Comments about PNY GeForce 8400 GS PCI 512MB Verto Graphics Card:

I'm an IT professional; I build/repair pc's for a living. I purchased this to test it out for my customers who have only PCI. -This card requires 3 restarts to make run (others run instantly)-It will allow you to play the latest games (with horribly slow conditions)EXAMPLE:Dell Dimension3000 - 2GB RAM-Integrated graphics 96MB shared memory= 10 FPS on World of Warcraft (can not play oblivion)-NVidia FX5500 with 256MB dedicated memory = 20 FPS on WoW (can almost play oblivion - with errors)-Nvidia 8400 (THIS MODEL) - 5FPS on WoW, Can play oblivion - on lowest settings- and it runs horribly choppy to the point where it really is NOT playable. This card is WORSE than the 4 year old - half price FX5500... it is basically on par with the integrated graphics chip on this old PC.[...]

I bought this to put new life into my 4 yr old Pentium 4 desktop and it did the trick!! Works great, and I can now play some games that I wasn't able to use previously. Very pleased with this card. Nvidia knows what they're doing!!

Comments about PNY GeForce 8400 GS PCI 512MB Verto Graphics Card:

Box description states low profile, but product is NOT low profile. Does not include low profile bracket, and even if it did, the card is still physically too big to fit in any slim computer case. You need a full size case.

Comments about PNY GeForce 8400 GS PCI 512MB Verto Graphics Card:

This thing was horrible, it wouldn't set up on Windows Vista Home Premium. I spent hours on the line with tech support and they give you a "this is a faulty card story" Do not buy!
