I purchased this Acer P221W for my software development activities after purchasing the similar Acer X213W for my wife a few weeks earlier (the specs on both screens are identical except that the X213W is a 21.6" screen and the P221W is a 22" screen). Both monitors were priced competitively with 19" screens let alone other 22" screens. \n\nThe Acer P221W performs beautifully in all important respects: sharpness, uniformity and level of brightness, and color rendition. There are no dead pixels and I could not detect any dark/bright spots or areas. Video images (e.g., web news) render smoothly and accurately. The screen has a matte finish and so there are no glare issues. Aesthetically, these are among the prettiest monitors you can put on your desk (thin, unobtrusive glossy black bezel, cool silver-colored v-shaped stand). While you can change the vertical angle of the screen, you cannot change the vertical height, however, the default height should be fine for most people. There is no portrait orientation option but that is to be expected on a value-oriented monitor such as this and such a feature is not usually a requirement for most users. All in all, you will be hard pressed to find a better 22" class monitor at this price range.\n\nOne final note, be sure that, if you hook this monitor to a notebook computer, your graphics card can support the monitor's resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels. My wife's ATI X600 card had no problem with that but my business notebook's ATI X1300 doesn't support that particular resolution which required some interesting gymnastics on my part in order to get a crisp image that properly filled the screen.

This monitor looks bad connected to a VGA output with bad focus and characters ghosted to the right. It could not correct through auto configuration. I played with the adjustments a good bit but could not manually correct the problem. However, hooked to a DVI output it looks great. Maybe not the brightest but very suitable for office use.

Super value for the money. Use it 10 hours a day in the office with no problems. Sharp images and great colors. Look for it to work well for years to come.

I don't usually write reviews. But I dropped my monitor down the outside stairwell of my appt., punched it several times and been pretty abusive with it. I got it black friday of last year for[$] I cant tell you a better monitor for the price cause this one won't break!
