We use the tabs for the dividers in the recipe box my husband made. We can print our own categories, they have adhesive on them and we stick them on card stock dividers we made.

For separating and organizing notebook sections, these work just as well as the next product, but honestly, I dread having to use them. Their adhesive sticks when it shouldn't, putting the tiny tabs into the platic sleeves is a pain, and using them is an experience not altogether different from hand-plucking nutgrass from a flowerbed. For someone who thrives on fine motor skill experiences, these may be great, but not for the average office supply consumer.
