It would have been nice if they had mentioned some where on the package that it could not be used with Vista 64bit. It just said 'works with Vista'. Now I have it leveling my workbench out

I work on industrial control systems, and must program and otherwise communicate with many devices over RS232. Since most laptop mfg's have removed conventional RS232 ports, there are few options left. Thank you Belkin for seeing the need and providing a quality part.

Must have if you need to connect older serial port equipment to newer computers w/only USB ports. Had to go to Belkin site to download software for use with Vista, but download was quick and has performed flawlessly. Highly recommended.

I picked up this cable because I could find a proper driver for a similar cable I got [@]After downloading the Vista driver for this cable, I had no problems getting it to do exactly what I wanted. As a network engineer, I need to be able to access console ports on routers and switches on a regular basis. Because it's very hard to find a laptop these days with a serial port, this comes in extremely handy in being able to add that port.I will be getting another one of these to keep as a backup should something happen to my first one.

I tried to use this with my VAG-COM interface. The VAG-COM interface allows me to access my Audi's computer. It didn't work for this application. VAG-COM's customer service later told me that their product doesn't work with serial to USB adapters.

I have used these adapters with success in other applications.

This product is overpriced, IMHO. You can get signficantly less expensive ones elsewhere.
