I was very excited about this printer/copier/scanner. I do not need the fax that is on many multifunctions so I thought this was going to be perfect for me. I also liked that this had a 500 page paper tray to hold a full ream instead of the measly 250 page trays. Unfortunately without PCL I cannot use it as it is required for some of the software I use. Dissapointed!

This machine is used by various people throughout the day. To-date we have had no malfunctions; not even a paper jam. Excellent machine for the money!!

Buyers Profile
This printer is for the office that kicks out more volume or has more users than a typical desktop printer can serve reliably and cost effectively. It's a nice alternative for smaller offices (< 10 workers) to the mammoth MFPs and, depending on the deal you get, you may actually realize your ROI before it's time to upgrade. It has a single dedicated cassette than can (supposedly) handle a full ream of Copy, and a multi-tray that starts looking stuffed at around ten Comm.#10 envelopes.

Setup -
After some extensive packaging removal, the D1120 needed only to be plugged in and connected to a wireless router and she was ready to rock. Software installation on the PC's was pretty simple with some finding the D1120 easily and others needing to have the IP entered manually - which was easy enough to find via the menus, but still not "plug and play".

Functions -
The D1120 provides all* the major functions of a full scale MFP device. (*the 1120 model does not fax, but it's brethren up the 1100 series do). It happily chugs away eating letter, legal and envelopes. It's very quick, reasonably quiet and takes up 10% of the space of a full sized copier (1/4 the footprint and around 1/3 the height). I've only briefly tested the automatic document feeder, but it worked flawlessly in this one test. They always seem to be the first things to go on me to we'll see how things progress.

Hang ups -
My single reservation (so far) is streaking on items sent through the multi-tray. I burned a few envelopes before getting a reasonably clean one to come through and also dirtied up a piece of legal parchment. This hasn't affected anything sent through the main cassette, yet.

TBD -
I haven't tested the Scan function yet to see if it communicates as seamlessly over the wireless network as the print function does.
