I bought this product to save time getting information from business cards into my Outlook Address Book. Card scan sets up it's own address book and although it says it can synchronize with Outlook, it's short (read almost non-existant) on how.

Executive assistant to CEO/Chairman of a large international company. This is the only card scanner I will ever use. It quickly and accurately scans the cards my boss brings back from his frequent travels. I am able to download them into our Outlook program plus work other magic with it to incorporate into mailing programs for holiday cards and promotional material. It doesn't get any better. Yes I have used other scanners and they all ended up in the trash.

Typically if you purchase hardware within the past couple of years, vendors either fix their old software to be Vista compatible for download or give you the new version.

Not CardScan. You have to re-purchase the software. Even Microsoft didn't make me purchase new Office software when I upgraded to Vista, and that's a software company!!! In fact, with the exception of a couple of really old products (2001, 2002), nobody has required me to RE-purchase software for Vista compatibility.

So be careful. Should Microsoft patch Vista (as sometimes they do) Cardscan may require you to re-purchase their software which ain't cheap!
