This was a replacement for a dead HP ScanJet 3300c, and it's much faster. The only minus is that the software doesn't have the auto-verticalizing feature that PrecisionScan LT had, so I have to manually tweak the vertical alignment. But, I'd recommend this product as a very fine deal — especially since it includes Photoshop Elements 6.

I bought this scanner primarily to copy 35 mm slides for a family project. The unit sets up easily but forget about using it to copy slides. It's slow and clunky, you can only process 4 slides at a time and the software interface looks like it was written 15 years ago. It's also not very Mac-friendly. One nice feature: the lid stays open at 45 degrees so it can be used in spaces with low overhead clearance.

I use the scanner for slides, photos, negatives, and copying various documents. It is easy to use. Speed may be slow for some users, however, I am more interested in quality of the scan and the availability for scanning various modes.
